HOTTEST ACCESSORY TREND: CHANEL NAIL AND KNUCKLE RINGS

Chanel nail and knuckle rings
Chanel nail and knuckle rings
We live in the world where anything new appears to be just forgotten old. Whatever it is that you come up with and claim to be your own invention, is actually not. Someone, long before the century you live in, already made an attempt to present it to the world. And here you are, disappointed and frustrated, give up on your brilliant idea. Well, you really shouldn’t! It all depends on how you introduce your find: it can be a total fail or, on the contrary, become a huge success. Just the way it turned out with Chanel nail and knuckle rings. Yes, you might have bumped into such an item a couple times before, but from now on it is going to be the hottest accessory trend.

Chanel Nail and Knuckle Rings to Set a New Trend

Chanel definitely set a new nail and accessory trend. Those knuckle rings literally shined at the brand’s Fall 2013 Couture show and made a very clear statement. All the fashionistas now are ready to start the chase for these beautiful sparkling pieces. And so am I!
Karl Lagerfeld did not bother with intricate design or creative shape and made the ring as simple as possible. The brand’s name was obviously meant to be the accent. Despite the absence of details other than glittering rhinestones, I love these gorgeous pieces. Chanel offers to wear them all at the same time, but my guess is not every single lady can afford to spend a fortune on the rings. And plus, wearing just one or a couple is more daywear-like. I can’t imagine myself hitting the keyboard with the same speed, when my trained fingers are covered with metal bands.

However, seems like Chanel nail ring is pretty comfortable to wear. Looking at the blonde with a cellphone in her ringed hands, I have no more doubt about one’s ability to text (which is a survival need today). And looks like you can handle both your make-up kit and a hat with your hands decked out in these rings. So I see no reason you can’t try on the newest trend and dazzle everyone around.
These knuckle and nail rings are a good match for any of your outfits, no matter what color it is styled in. All-embracing, this saucy accessory is a good complement to a classic look as well as more funky one. I wouldn’t recommend to overload your body with other pieces of jewelry, especially bracelets. Let it be your hands that will attract people’s attention. Other than that, there are no limits! Use your creativity and follow your personal taste to rock this trend.
Chanel nail and knuckle rings will become a must-have accessory very fast, so the sooner we get one of our own, the better. Now, let me get it straight – neither do I own an account in the Swiss bank nor have I a multimillionaire ancestor. So Chanel, regardless of my strong affection for both the brand and this particular item, is not what I am going to look for. I believe most of you will join me in this search for the precious accessory and I am sure we all will succeed. There are also knuckle rings by other brands, so if you are already obsessed, do not postpone your shopping. Here are examples of nail and knuckle rings that would be more available price-wise.

SPRING/SUMMER 2014 ACCESSORY TREND: NECKLACES

 Christian Dior
Christian Dior
Now that you are well familiar with the hottest outfit trends of Spring/Summer 2014 and even some of the accessory tendencies, it is quite the time to get acquainted with what to adorn your precious necks with. To be more precise, it is the necklaces that we are going to talk about today. Since there were so many of them showcased during the runway shows,  I decided to present them separately. Plus, this will help you focus on the neckwear only in order to choose the most appealing pieces for your own collection. Scroll down to see the creations of the most magnificent designers in the world and don’t forget to make some notes. Although spring is not that far as it seems to be, you don’t want to forget any of the useful tips.

Coolest Necklaces of Spring/Summer 2014

Gold chains in a very thick and bold design is what you need to start looking for. This incredible piece by Christian Dior will beautify any outfit that you wear. Be it an elegant dress paired with a pair of gorgeous pumps or a rock shirt matched with a leather skirt and studded booties, the gold chain will add more glam to the look. Plus, it is very easy to find matching jewelry pieces to complement this item. Just remember that you don’t want to wear any accessories in silver – this is considered to show lack of fashion taste.
Chanel
Chanel
Chanel presented a very unique accessory which definitely deserves your attention. From the first sight I thought it was a pair of headphones twisted around the model’s neck. However, I managed to see the true form of the item. A metal string in silver crooked up in a horseshoe shape with oversized fake pearls on the edges looks extremely elegant and alluring.
 Kenzo
Kenzo
Kenzo opted for a very creative side and offered a necklace shaped like a coil spring. I am sure it is not that hard and heavy as the real one – otherwise the designer wouldn’t release this piece at all. It looks very engaging and for sure will speak to those ladies who prefer to stand out.
 Rochas
Rochas
Long chains of rhinestones mixed together definitely have a bohemian zest. It doesn’t matter what stones are featured: multicolored beads by Dsquared2 or sparkling gemstones by Rochas both add a lot of shine to the look. You can pair such a necklace with a very plain tank top or a collared shirt. Depending on which look you are trying to create, there are a huge number of variations you are exposed to.
Zadig et Voltaire
Zadig et Voltaire
Here comes the accessory I liked the best: a bow tie embellished with tiny rhinestones speaks to me a lot. Zadig et Voltaire offers this piece in white with a very questionable outfit. It’s hard to decide on its style: either classic or sporty. I assume, it’s both. Which means that you can rock the bow tie with any ensemble. The greatest thing about this accessory is that you actually don’t have to buy it. Just simply sneak it from your boyfriend and you will be done with one quarter of your fabulous look!
 Lanvin
Lanvin
And last but not least. A number of fashion designers offer to mix different styles in one look. Forget about wearing just one single necklace. Layering is trendy not only with the clothing pieces, but also with the accessories. Lanvin and Rebecca Minkoff, for example, showed off quite astonishing items to wear.
These were the hottest necklaces of Spring/Summer 2014. Hopefully, you managed to decide on the pieces you like the most.

Embroidered jacket sleeve

Dries Van Noten really knows his embroidery. He always delivers a collection filled with folklore
detailing and decorated surfaces in modern forms and styling.
But this post is not about his latest collection. It´s about a parka jacket he made in his Fall 2010 collection
that became a fashion classic. It also had so much DIY potential.
Even after three years the distressed cargo jacket / parka with beautiful stud and metallic embroidered
embellishment looks fresh. Most of these images are from Free People.
They have now a similar jacket in their collection and I think it is a better reference for DIY purposes.

The technique for this is braid embroidery in which you first sketch the pattern on to a piece
of velvet or wool fabric. Then you pin and hand sew the braided decorative ribbons onto it.
If pinning is too difficult, try hot gluing it on with a few drops so the ribbons stay in place while you sew them on.
Finally cut the outer shape and sew it on to the jacket sleeves.

         Van Noten

Jess Eaton couture

Have a look at these images. Gorgeous creations, aren´t they? Fur, feathers, leather and skulls.
The basis of pretty much any Alexander McQueen collection. But these aren´t regular fashions.
Most of these are made from animals rabbits, birds, squirrels and foxes, that died by the hand of man,
or a car to be exact. You call them also road kill.

Jess Eaton’s Roadkil Couture collection features weird items and accessories, like a necklace made from with
the skulls of 12 dead pheasants, a bolero jacked made from the furs of 50 white rats eaten by her friend’s reptile,
or a hat made from four magpie wings, but the designer claims she’s not out to shock the world. Sure,
some of her pieces look like something only Lady Gaga would dare wear,
but Jess Eaton says her creations are only meant to be beautiful, not outrageous.
While other women would probably flinch at the sight of a dead animal, Jess is more than happy to pick it up,
skin it herself and use its various body parts in her unique fashion item.

Embellished Collar DIY..

AksiDesign

embellished collar diy

Collars and embellished collars have been making their rounds on the internet and blogs for the past couple of years now. I think we can point our fingers at Miu Miu and their pretty kitty & swallow collars for starting the trend. But because I thought I saw so many refashioned collars and collar necklaces floating around, I purposely did not do a DIY for one. You know I don't like to be a copycat. Apparently however, a Look 4 Less reader was on the hunt for a DIY embellished collar and couldn't find any that suited her. So I offered a hand and thought I'd give it my own spin using faux pearls, vintage rhinestone earrings & buttons, as well as vintage aurora borealis beads from an old broken necklace {as I did for my encrusted V-neck DIY}. Rather than cluttering up the entire collar though, I created a pretty visual pattern that begins on one side and ends on the other.

*NOTE* Once embellished, your shirt will have to be dry-cleaned or carefully hand-washed and hung dry. It's the price you pay for fashion OR you can also choose to remove your collar entirely from the rest of the blouse and wear it as a necklace of sorts, pairing it with any outfit you like.

Here's What You'll Need...

1 embellished collar diy

* A blouse with a nice collar. Mine is blush/pink that I found at a thrift shop, with a nice sturdy collar that will keep its shape even with the weight of the embellishments. You can see me wearing it here in 2010 with under the collar necklaces.

Faux pearls in 2-3 sizes. I also used a craft strand to save a little time. Rhinestone buttons, beads, earrings... whatever you like really, that you can hand-stitch on.

* Needle/Thread/Scissors

Steps...

2 embellished collar diy -rhinestones-1

* First, visually lay out your largest pearls or precious findings. Other than the vintage rhinestone earrings dangling from the ends, I chose not to match the two sides. Carefully hand stitch each into place {but not onto your shirt below}.

3 embellished collar diy -pearls-2

* Using medium sized pearls or beads, begin filling in the spaces in between. Then with the smallest beads or pearls, filling in the even smaller spaces.

4embellished collar diy -pearls and beads-3

* Adding large, medium, and small beads, pearls, and rhinestones gives it depth and texture.

5 embellished collar diy -4

* Continue overlapping and filling in the blanks until you have a finished look you are pleased with.

*NOTE* Mine has a "dipped" feeling which I really love... but you may choose to embellish just the tips, just the edges, sporadically overall, or clustered entirely. You can also choose to add chains, studs, sequins, or even just cover your collar in an already-embellished ribbon. It's up to you ;)

Voila!
